Universal Veneer

Sedgwick has had the privilege of working with Universal Veneer since 2013. Universal Veneer is located in Newark, Ohio and they have been a staple in that community since their founding in 1978. In 1988 the company was acquired by partners Klaus Krajewski and Dieter Heren.  Today, Klaus Krajewski remains the majority owner of the company along with Simon Krajewski and Joey Comisford.  Overall, they have about 215 employees in Ohio. The core of their business is providing custom cutting of North American hardwoods into veneer. 

They are Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certified and believe that protecting the Earth and its natural resources should be at the core of all their endeavors. Because of this, they practice sustainable forestry methods and work closely with environmental agencies to ensure responsible wood procurement. They have an unwavering focus on providing a high-quality product and putting their customers first. They have clients all over the globe and provide them with the finest American hardwood veneers and custom slicing.    

They are constantly investing in new machinery to ensure that the safety of their employees and the quality of their product is never compromised. Through the efforts of Universal Veneer and our partnership with them, they have been able to reduce their Experience Modifier Rate (EMR) by thirty-two points over the past five years. While maintaining a consistent payroll and employee base count, this improvement in their EMR has allowed Universal Veneer to lower their premiums by more than $150,000 over this same timeframe.
